It was a pity that only 11 of you turned up (plus the Under 16s who ran the longer race). For the third year in a row, some of you took a wrong turn but this time you corrected yourselves without too much disadvantage so I have let the results stand.

As dedicated mathematics students you will all know about prime numbers, won’t you? How do you make equal teams out of 11 runners? I have you all seeded in order so I picked one from the fastest end followed by one from the slowest end and at the point the sorting stopped I put the next runner down twice. On handicap Xanthe’s time was the slowest of her team, but it was still enough for them to win!

This Saturday
The first day of the school holidays. If you’re going to be near Taupo you could have a go at the North Island Cross Country Championships. Let Julie know: she’s organising for some of her squad to go and she will be able to manage entries.
I’ll be at the Clubrooms if any of you want a run. I’ll also go there for Saturday 13 July.

Sunday 21 July
This will be a BIG ONE! Our Athletics Wellington Cross Country Championships, at Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt. There are individual and team titles for all grades. Remember that we can only win a teams event if we have at least 4 runners in each grade. So no matter how good you are, or how good you think others might be, your team needs you!

Wellington Marathon, etc.

Not all of the WHAC results from the Wellington Marathon have yet been dissected by our crack team of analysts, but a special mention goes out to Jagger Wilson for his impressive PB in the 10k race. Jagger ran a net time of 49:35, which placed him 13th out of 60 in the M20 division, and he is 10 years old. Well done Jagger!

North Island Cross Country

Taupo this Saturday – run well!

Wellington Masters Committee

Recruiting new and replacement committee members
Recruiting for the committee continues to be challenging, given the Masters membership is largely made up by local club members since the MoU.
Could WHAC supply two to three Masters reps for the upcoming twelve-month period?
Of course, reps can stay longer, but I’m hoping to set the floating 12-month rep up permanently to act as a starting point to help ensure we can continue the Wellington Masters Committee.
Our AGM will be held on 12 September, and new committee reps would take up their positions then.
One of the many benefits to clubs supplying reps is the sharing of information, especially events. It would be great to avoid the clash we saw earlier this year with Round the Bays, NZMT&F National Champs in Christchurch, and the Wellington T&F champs all being held on the same weekend.
The AGM will be held on Thursday 12 September at the Johnsonville Clubrooms, starting at 7 pm.
We would love to see Masters attend and consider standing, especially the pre-Master and new-Master age groups.
Thank you in advance.
