First Up

There are a couple of final events before Christmas.

On Saturday evening it’s the Night of Miles down at Newtown Park, which starts at 2:50 p.m. with some fun events and continues through to the elite races at around 5 p.m., with the final relay at 5:30 p.m. For more information, click here

Then on Sunday it’s the Christmas edition of the Honest 10K. It kicks off at 8:30 a.m. from the Whale Tail sculpture near Freyberg Pool. If you want to volunteer with pacing or can otherwise help out, please email Michael Baughen at michaelbaughen@gmail.com

Well done to all the juniors who competed in Tauranga last weekend in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Champs, there were some impressive results.

This is the final newsletter for the year, we’ll be back again on Jan. 14. I hope everybody has a relaxing break and that next year we’ll have many more opportunities to run and race together than we did in 2020. Happy holidays everybody!

For future newsletter items or suggestions, please email Nick Perry: nickgbperry@gmail.com

Will Anthony, from Scots College, leads out in the Senior Boys 6K Road Race in Tauranga. Anthony went on to win in 18:51.

Three club members are heading to Nelson on March 6th to compete as a team over 24 hours on a 10.5 km trail course. There’s a spot available to make it a four-person team. Their competition will be a two-person team of Hewi and Seth. It will work out to about 6 hours of running each over the night/day. Each loop includes 480m of elevation.
