First up ...

Happy St Andrew's Day! (Again, just in case you missed the intro' above ...)

A few bagpipe tunes, now, to stir the blood. (Just the ticket before a run, or a bout of progressive dancing.) Threetwoone -- go!

Peter Rendall's weekly message

No report from Peter this week. The below is as seen in last week's newsletter.

"Friendly reminder: track and field related queries should be directed to me..... not Jo, Bertram, Geoff, Paul

My email address is in the Club Contacts section near the foot of the newsletter."

Newtown Park -- Track stuff

UPDATE -- start date brought forward

From TODAY, Thursday 30 November, work on resurfacing the running track will commence. This will take approximately 21 days to complete. Given that the work is weather-dependent, however, a 42-day track-closure period has been pencilled in.

Laura Harkerss advises that Grenada North, Ben Burn and Nairnville all have marked running tracks that can be used when available.

Note that while the track and park will be closed during this work, the function room will still be available for bookings.

Please see note below re the alternative arrangements for Athletes With Disabilities and Children's Athletics.

If any member has questions regarding this project please contact Customer Liaison Officer Lauren Harkerss ( or project manager Peter Hemsley (
